How can I change my password, set up mail forwards etc.?
Almost everything related to account management can be done using GOsa. Just visit the GOsa page using your web browser, and log in with your regular username and password. It's a good idea to do so once in a while, and review the data that is stored about you. Things that you can do in GOsa include:
- changing your contact information (this is then broadcasted by our LDAPServer)
- changing your login shell
- changing your password
- configuring your mail forwards
- setting up vacation auto-responders
Please do not use the passwd or smbpasswd utilities command line utilities to change your password. These two utilities do not care about synchronizing your LDAP and your Samba password. This may result in inconsistencies, and may put the safety of the flight at risk.
How do I set up my email account?
Don't. We strongly recommend forwarding your email to another account as described above.
While we do support a SMTP server at mail.ps.uni-saarland.de we do not support external relaying. So, to send emails with your .ps address from home, you will have to use a different relay server. We recommend using smtp.uni-saarland.de.
If something went wrong with your forward and you need to access the email on our server you can use SquirrelMail.
My mailbox gets flooded with spam. What am I supposed to do?
The Lab's mail server uses SpamAssassin to tag each mail addressed at you with a spam score. If the spam score is equal to or greater than 12.0, the message is rejected without further notice; otherwise, it is delivered to your inbox. If you are receiving a lot of spam, you may want to enable additional spam-filtering. The simplest way to do so is to log into SquirrelMail and add a filter rule that filters your spam mails
