Zimbra
This site provides information for migrating your IMAP folders from the PS-Lab account to the Zimbra Groupware solution.
Prerequisites
UdS Benutzerkennung (This page uses mamu001 as a running example. Substitute your own UdS-ID), with Zimbra usage enabled (Talk to the system administrator)
General Information
Some general information about the Zimbra can be obtained at the HIZ Website
Migration
Log into the Zimbra Web Application and look around
- Mail forwards:
Log into GoSA, go to Mein Konto -> Mail, and add a mail forward to mamu001@zimbra.uni-saarland.de (yes, the domain is different from the login URL).
- Also check the box "Keine Zustellung in eigenes Postfach" This ensures that your IMAP folder account will get no further emails.
To enable recieving emails on the university address ( max.mustermann@uni-saarland.de , etc.) you need to separately forward those emails via the Horde webmail interface as descibed here: Einrichtung einer E-Mail-Weiterleitung an Zimbra
- Transfer Mails:
- Log into the Zimbra
Go to Einstellungen -> Accounts.
- Select "Externen Account hinzufügen"
- Set the Account name to PSLab
- Insert login information for the labs IMAP server
- Ensure that "Mails herunterladen auf" is set to "Ordner: PSLab" and that "Mails nach dem herunterladen löschen" is NOT selected.
- Select "Speichern" (over the list on the very left)
- Now the Zimbra Application should download the complete content of all your IMAP folders into the folder PSLab
Once this process has completed (There should be a message, otherwise just wait an hour so so), return to Einstellungen -> Accounts and remove the external account. When asked whether the contents of PSLab should be moved to the trash, choose NO.
- Go to the Mail Tab. You old Emails should now be below a folder named PSLab
- (Optional) Use your favorite IMAP client to list the mail counts of all folders and compare with the counts in the Zimbra Web application (mouseover text for each folder)
- Rerrange your folders as you see fit.
For the some time, the IMAP storage on our server will still be accessible. However, the service is going to be discontinued eventually
Spam
You may notice that, by default, Zimba is less aggressive in detecting spam than our mail setup. Zimbra uses a Spamassassin score of 6.6 instead of 5.0. For more aggressive spam filtering you can match on the "X-Spam-Level" message header. This contains n times "*" wheren n is the integer part of the Spamassassin score. To restore the old behavior, add a filter that moves messages where "X-Spam-Level" contains "*****" to the Spam folder.
